Christmas Morning Craziness 2009

Ryan and Angela and their kids spent Christmas Eve here since we were having Christmas morning at our house. So needless to say, it was a little difficult getting all the kids to sleep. It is hard enough getting kids to sleep on Christmas Eve as it is. Christmas morning was over in less than a half an hour despite the massive amounts of presents. Then we had our wonderful traditional Christmas breakfast of egg casserole, cinnamon rolls and orange julius. We spent the day playing with Christmas presents.  We had Christmas dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Greats. What a fun day!

Christmas Eve Celebration

We had our traditional Christmas Eve celebration. We ate and ate until we couldn't possibly eat any more. We sang Christmas carols, played the bells, played a matching game (new addition this year), Ryan and Angela played a duet on the piano and violin, we acted out the Christmas story, watched the Luke 2 Christmas story, and opened our pajamas. Katie and Kathleen had a brawl over who was going to be Mary and Katie somehow managed to agree to be an angel instead. That was a true Christmas miracle. They are both really stubborn.

Grammy and Pompa Night

It was Ryan and Angela's 10 year anniversary so they asked Grammy and Pompa if they would watch their kids so they could have a night out. So Grammy and Pompa decided to have a special night for all the grandkids in town and invited my kids to come too. They had boboli pizzas, decorated sugar cookies, played bingo and watched a movie. Thanks Grammy and Pompa for such a fun evening.

Katie's School Christmas Program

The kindergarteners at Katie's did the cutest program. They sang a bunch of songs and recited some poems. They were adorable.

Luv True Luv

Garret and I were driving in the car and he was just babbling away. I wasn't really listening to him, when all of a sudden I heard him say "I'm going to marry Natalie." Then followed by a short pause, "And Megan". Apparently he is planning on bringing polygamy back.

What Ya Eating?

The other night, Kirt was sitting in Garret's room trying to get him to go to sleep (a very difficult and time consuming task) and Garret just kept chomping away like he was eating something. Kirt finally asked him what he was doing. Garret said "eating a Krabby Patty". I think he is watching a little too much Sponge Bob.

Gingerbread House Building

The kids have been so excited about building the Gingerbread House. I bought the kit a few weeks ago and they have asked me everyday since if we were going to build it that day. Well it turns out that they weren't so interested in building it, but eating it. So next year I think I am just going to buy some candy, frosting and gingerbread and just let them eat it. We let Tanner do a lot of the frosting, can you tell?

Wise Men?

We went to a play about the birth of the Saviour and the events leading up to it last night at our stake center. It was really good, but a little long. So we were driving home from the play, and we asked Tanner what his favorite part of the play was. He said his favorite part was that they didn't have the wise men come because that would have made the play even longer. So Kirt started quizzing the kids on what they knew about the wise men. He asked what the gifts were that the wise men brought to Jesus. Tanner said "gold, frankenstein and meth"? We have definitely been teaching him well.

What Are You Thankful For?

We were having our Thanksgiving dinner and of course we were going around the table saying what we were thankful for. Totally unprompted Garret said that he was thankful for the hot tub and the lawn mower. He absolutely loves those two things.

Katie's Thanksgiving Program

Katie's class did a little Thanksgiving program today in their class. They sang 3 songs about turkeys, told us what they were thankful for, and gave us pumpkin muffins that they had made for us the day before.

A New Level of Tattle Telling

So before church last week, I told the kids to go and get a healthy snack, and then I went upstairs to finish getting ready. A few minutes later Katie comes running upstairs yelling that Garret was eating cookies. Then she says that she could prove it and shows me a picture that she had taken with my phone of Garret eating cookies. What are they going to think of next?

Where's Everybody?

One of Garret's favorite thing to do each day, is say "Where's Tanner? Where's Katie?" And on and on with about everyone he knows. He has even added the 2 neighbor kids who walk to school with Tanner and Katie to the list. I get so tired of answering that I now say "you know where they are" when he asks where all the various people he knows are. Another piece of background for the story is that Kirt gets up each morning and spends about a half hour sitting on the toilet going to the bathroom, reviewing his day on his iphone, and reading. So the other day as we were on our way from the gym, he says "where's daddy?" I of course say "you know where he is". And he says, "home on the potty."
