Nicaragua and Costa Rica Trip Day 27

Today we went on a wildlife boat tour of the Rio Tempisque.  We saw lots of different kinds of animals and plants.

 Grasshopper

Those little gray X's on the underside of the tree are bats
 Crocodile
 Iguana

 White faced monkey
This is hard to see, but in the middle of this picture is a milk carton in a tree.  This marks the stop of how high the water in the river rose in 2007.
Back in the hammock at the restaurant after the boat tour.  We had a delicious typical Costa Rican meal.
Brett, Tami and Kirt.  Tami and Ben left for home right after lunch.  Thanks so much for coming and spending a week with us Tami and Ben!  It was so fun to have you.

Nicaragua and Costa Rica Trip Day 26

Today we went back to Tamarindo beach with Tami, Ben, Brett and Kristie.  Kirt was in the water all day trying to surf with his paddle board and he is the family photographer so we unfortunately did not get any pictures.  Kristie had rented a surf board and so Tanner tried that as well was surfing with the paddle board.  He was actually much better on the surf board and was able to catch 4 or 5 waves.  Tami and Ben had also rented a boogie board and Katie and Garret loved boogie boarding.  Garret was so light that he could ride a wave all the way into the shore.  Kirt ran into a rock under the water while he was trying to surf on the paddle board.  He tore some skin off his toe and he claims that a fish came up and nibbled the skin off of his toe.  YUCK!

Nicaragua and Costa Rica Trip Day 25

We went to Rincon de la Vieja national park today to the hacienda Guachipelin and did a bunch of adventure tours.  We went zip lining, rappelling, did Tarzan swings, rock climbing, horse back riding, white water rafted in a tube, went to hot springs and painted ourselves with hot mud.  It was an incredible day!

Garret.  This zip line was a lot faster than the last one we did, plus Garret had a hard time not spinning around on this one.  He was a little scared on his first run.  Look at the expression on his face in this picture.

Kirt-I think he forgot to close his mouth

Garret-he got to go tandem with a guide the whole time

Tanner-yes that is him in the bottom picture.  You can tell it is his shoe.

In the hot springs.  One of the pools was so hot none of us except Ben could even get in.

Nicaragua and Costa Rica Trip Day 24

Another fun day at the beach.  Kirt and I were able to stay up on the paddle board today.  Monday when I did it I thought I would never figure it out, and today it was a piece of cake.  Don't know that any of us are ready to surf on the paddle board, but we can all stand up on it and paddle across the calm water.

Hermit crab collection.  We found over 20 of them today.  Some of there names were Gigantor, Jimmy, Shelly, and Patches.
We went to dinner at a restaurant called Father Rooster that had a tree swing and a tree house.
