Halloween 2018

Another Halloween in the books.  I was a witch for the 15th year in a row.  Michelle and I took Scarlett to U-High to trick or treat.  We found Katie.  Scarlett was a little scared at first, but then she got the hang of it. Jon and his family, my parents and my family all went to the ward trunk or treat (I had to work until 7:30pm). Then they all came back to our house and went trick or treating in our neighborhood.  They were all coming back to the house after trick or treating when I got home from work.  The kids came up to the door and said trick or treat as they were walking up to the door and then walked in the house.  There were some other kids from the neighborhood that were coming up to trick or treat at the same time.  After the trick or treaters left, I looked down and there was a girl in our house that I didn't recognize.  I looked at her asked her where her family was.  I thought she was just some random trick or treater that had wandered in our house.  Turns out she was actually Sadie's friend Helen.  We all got a good laugh.

Garret and Nixon were both Harry Potter

Katie and Mady and Olivia were life guards

Temple Baptism

Katie, Mady and Olivia got up early (5am) to do baptisms at the temple today.  Then I spoiled them and too them to McDonald's for breakfast.

GU vs BYU Volleyball Game

Kirt, mom and dad, Garret, Katie, Shane Skidmore and I went to a BYU vs GU women's volleyball game. BYU creamed GU.  BYU is #1 in the nation right now.  There were probably 4 times as many BYU fans as GU fans.  I think it really made the GU people mad that there were more of the opposing fans at their home game.

Painting and Carving Pumpkins

At our YW activity this week, the YW painted pumpkins.

Katie, Mady and Olivia painted each others faces on their pumpkins. Mady painted Katie, Olivia painted Mady, and Katie painted Olivia.  (They are holding the pumpkins they painted.)
They are holding the pumpkins that were painted of themselves.
Katie had her friends Hailee Barlow, Taylor Schillinger and Natalie Bentler over to carve pumpkins with her.

Garret had his friends Josh Sandberg and Kowen Sanders over to carve pumpkins with him.

Nixon carved the goblet of fire from Harry Potter

Ike carved the Batman logo for the 2nd year in a row

 Katie carved the Little Mermaid
 I carved a cat
Garret and Scarlett on the electric skateboard before we started carving pumpkins.

Half Dollars

Kirt and Garret are sorting through half dollars to find ones made in 1970 or before.  The ones made from 1964-1970 are made with 40% silver and the ones before 1964 are 90% silver so they are worth a lot more than $.50. Kirt ordered $1000 of half dollars (2,000 coins).  They looked through them and got skunked.  Not a single one of them was from 1970 or before.  Oh well, they will keep trying.

Garret's Cross Country Meet

The 6th graders do a short intramural cross country season.  They practice 2 times a week for 3 weeks and have 1 meet.  Garret trained really hard and had a lot of fun running.  Sometimes he would come home from practice and complain that they didn't run enough.  He did really well at his meet.  He didn't have any other timed runs to compare it to, but he ran a mile in 6:27.  He will now have a time to beat next year when he does cross country as a 7th grader.  The meet was out at the Liberty Lake Golf Course.  He took 15th of all the 6th grade boys that participated.
