Tanner's 24th Birthday

I can't believe my baby is 24.  We got to celebrate with him when we were down last weekend.  We went to Buffalow Wild Wings for dinner.  We got him tickets to a Utah Jazz game and a gift certificate for The Cheesecake Factory.

St George Trip

Kirt and went to St. George to see Tanner and Emilie and to watch 2 basketball games.  We had lots of fun visiting with them, eating, watching games, seeing friends, going to the temple.  We flew into Vegas on Thursday and rented a car and drove up to St George.  We went to dinner with Emilie at a yummy Mexican restaurant and then went to the SUU game.  It was an awesome game and they won!!  Friday I went walking with Liz Thornton and Kirt worked.  Emilie and I went shopping and to Costco in the afternoon while Tanner was at practice.  Then we went to the Red Cliffs temple open house and to do sealings in the St. George temple.  Tanner and Emilie gave a tour of the St. George temple too.  Then we went to dinner at Buffalow Wild Wings.  Saturday I went walking with Liz again and Kirt went biking with Don Thornton and Brent Clark.  Emilie and I went and rode her parents e-bikes around Santa Clara.  We went to the Cal Baptist game and they won again!! We are the good luck charms.  We went to dinner with Emilie's parents and Josh at a hibachi restaurant.  Sunday we got to go to church with Tanner and Emilie.  Tanner even taught elders quorum and Kirt got to go.  We walked around the St. George temple after church.  We drove back to Vegas in the afternoon and flew home.  It was such a fun trip!

Pompa's Brain Tumor

On January 10th we found that Pompa had a brain tumor called a meningioma.  It is the size of a baseball and it is pushing on parts of his brain that control sight, balance, and memory which Pompa has been having problems with.  He had surgery on February 6th to have it removed.  The surgery went really well until the very end about 5 minutes before the surgery ended when his heart went into ventricular fibrillation and then into cardiac arrest.  He was on his stomach with his head in a vice to hold it still so they couldn't shock his heart.  So they pushed a bunch of medications to get his heart going, but they cause the pressure in his head to increase.  They were worried that it would make his brain bleed or have a stroke.  The medicine worked thankfully and got his heart beating again.  They got him flipped over and made sure that his heart was stable.  They took him to CT to make sure that he didn't have a brain bleed.  They finished the surgery and took him to the ICU.  They left him ventilated and sedated that night.  The next morning, the extubated him and woke him up.  Thankfully he seems to be doing really well.  He had an MRI and it doesn't look like he had a stroke.  He passes all his neuro tests and he is talking, eating, and walking.  We know that this is answers to many, many prayers.

Really Slow Day at Work

It was a really slow day at work today so we were able to finish an entire 1000 piece puzzle.
Me, Jae McKinney, Cassie Johns, and Jamie Kappler
Dr Hilton even helped us too.  He did the hard part, the 1990's in the middle of the puzzle.

Grandpa Spear

My grandpa would have been 96 today.  My aunt Courtney posted some pictures of my grandpa on Facebook and I wanted to put them on the blog to save them.  I don't have very many pictures of my grandpa.
