Visiting Lisa Criddle
Lisa and I have been wanting to get together for a long time and haven't been able to find a time that works. Cameron was going to be gone hunting, so I went over for a few days and we hung out. It was so fun to catch up. We went for 2 hikes, went to lunch, and just reminisced and laughed. We called our friend Candice and did more reminiscing and laughing. It was tons of fun!
Hike 1
So here is the small world story. Lisa and I went down to St. George for Candice's wedding in 1999. We shared a hotel room. We also shared the room with another girl that Lisa and Candice had roomed with when they were at Rick's. I had never met her before. When Lisa and I were talking, I asked Lisa what the girls name was that we roomed with because I didn't remember. She said her name was Brenda Peine, and that her married name was Vernon. I asked if there was anyway that she lived in Spokane now because I had met someone named Brenda Vernon at girls camp this last summer. She said that she had moved to Spokane. So I hung out with Brenda at girls camp and didn't even realize that we had met years ago at Candice's wedding. Crazy. Here is us at the wedding. We texted Candice to send us some pictures. She sent this one and then a few more.
This is Kirt and I the summer we got married. We hung out with Candice a ton this summer. We loved to go roller blading (well at least Candice and I did, not so sure about Kirt.)

Garret Special Olympic Softball Tournament
Garret got a chance to go play in a Special Olympic softball tournament with his friend Sam Javier down in Lewiston. Sam's uncle is special needs and Sam and his family play softball with him and other special needs kids. Sam's uncle didn't actually play in this tournament (he won Cold Play tickets and went to the concert instead), but the boys still had a great time playing softball with the special needs kids on the team. They even won the tournament.

They got to go swimming after the games.

Katie and some of her 8th grade friends volunteered to help at the Happy Girl Run. They needed service hours for 8th grade.

Special Person Lunch
Chester has a bring a special person to lunch day. (PC for bring your dad to lunch day. Had to change it for those kids that don't have a dad.) Kirt and I went to lunch with Garret. It is our last one. This is Garret's last year at the Elementary School.

Portland State
Out of the blue Portland State calls Tanner and wants to work out with him. So one of the assistant coaches, coach Kahil Fennell comes over to Spokane and Tanner and Kirt meet him at U-High at 9pm on a Friday night. He watches Tanner work out for an hour and then a few days later, he came back with the head coach Barret Peery and they offered him a scholarship to play at Portland state. This recruiting stuff is so random. (Another random comment, Fennell asked Tanner if he was OK playing with a bunch of black guys.)

Freeman Strong
There was a shooting at a high school in Spokane, Freeman High School. Tanner's fall basketball team made t-shirts in support of the school, Freeman Strong.

Toria's weeding reception
My friend Amy's daughter Toria got married. It was fun to see Amy's sister Sue at the reception too.
Can't believe that Amy has a kid that is married. Seems like we just got married.

First day of school 2017
My kids are all the oldest at their schools this year. And yes I am shedding many tears sending Tanner off to his last 1st day of school while living under my roof.
Katie is a 8th grader at Horizon Middle School
Garret is a 5th grader at Chester Elementary.
Tanner is a senior at University High School.
