5 Crowns

I was playing 5 Crowns with Garret on Sunday and he was loosing the whole game.  It was the Kings round (the last round) and the score was 18 to 55.  He needed 37 to tie and 38 to win.  He wrote on the score paper that I got 38 points and that he won 55 to 56.  He was sure he was going to pull it off.  Sure enough he did.  I got 38 points and he won by 1 point.  Guess that goes to show that positive thinking does work.

Garret's Basketball Tournament

Garret had another basketball tournament in Lewiston.  Kirt went down with him on Friday.  They stopped by to see Tanner and take him Thanksgiving leftovers on the way down.  Garret played 2 games. They won the 1st and lost the 2nd.  After the games were over, Garret stayed the night at a hotel with his team, and Kirt came home.  Grammy, Pompa and I went down on Saturday and watched his 2 games.  They won both games.  We stopped and saw Tanner on the way home.

Thanksgiving 2020

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Grammy and Pompa's new house.  It was just Grammy and Pompa, and Jon and Michelle and kids, and our family.  No Tanner though (see Tanner's 1st tournament canceled post.) Cam and Rachelle stayed home because they are trying to quarantine before the baby comes.  So it was kind a small gathering this year which is probably good since we weren't supposed to gather with anyone outside our house thanks to Governor Inslee.

Playing Games with the Ryan Spear Family

Ryan and his family was going to come up to Spokane for Thanksgiving, but decided not to because there was another lock down thanks to Covid.  So he invited us to play games with us online. 1st he had the kids go and find things in there room about their favorite sports team and then their favorite vacation and tell everyone about those things.  Then he showed some pictures of family get togethers and we had to guess when and where the picture was taken.  Then we played Quiplash on Jack Box.  Some of the funny questions were:
Name a book that has the word corn in it and Katie replied, "Jessy's dilemma: Corn husking gone wrong."
Name a play that you wouldn't want to see and Katie replied, "Pompa's life story: the extended version."
How would you know you got a bad nose job and Garret replied, "People mistake you for Voldemort." Not as fun as having them here in person, but it was a good time!

Tanner's 1st Tournament Canceled

Tanner went to Portland on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  They were supposed to play 3 games in Portland over Thanksgiving weekend against Seattle U, Portland, and St Martins.  They did Covid testing before they left on Tuesday and everyone was negative.  When they got to Portland Tuesday night, they made them get tested again.  One of the tests came back positive.  They were using the antigen test, which is notorious for having false negatives.  They did another one right away and it was negative.  It didn't matter, the rules of the tournament said that if anyone was positive, that the whole team couldn't play.  They sent a PCR test, which is the more accurate test, hoping that if it came back negative they could convince them to let them stay, but no.  They got up Wednesday morning and got back on the bus and drove home.  They rented a car and one of the coaches drove the player who was "positive" home.  The whole team had to quarantine while they waited for the results of the PCR test to come back which was very slow because of Thanksgiving.  They sent another PCR test on right when they got back to Moscow.  Both PCR tests came back negative.  But not until the team had quarantined Thursday (which was Thanksgiving), Friday and most of Saturday.  They were finally able to practice late Saturday afternoon after being alone all Thanksgiving weekend.  Like I said, stupid covid. Nothing about it is logical at all.

Granny Reading the Book of Mormon

We were challenged by President Nelson to post on social media the week before Thanksgiving the things that we were thankful for.  (Which I totally failed and did not do.) But aunt Marsha posted, and on one of the days she posted this:
I am thankful for a mother who loved to read and study the Book of Mormon. Although she didn’t have the Book of Mormon in her home when she was growing up. I bet there was very few days in the last 50 years she did not read this book. She truly set a great example for me and all her family. #GiveThanks
I love this picture of Granny reading the Book of Mormon.  She truly did love to read it and was a great example to me.  (If you look really closely you can see that she is reading it was a magnifying glass.)

Katie's Day of Fun

In the afternoon Katie went Alison Osborn's house and sat in the hot tub with Alison and Olivia.

Then in the evening she went shopping with Mary and Tanaeya.  They bought matching PJ's and had to have a photo shoot in them. (Photo credit Jaden Thompson)

Garret Is Almost As Tall As Katie

Garret is almost as tall as Katie.  Katie is going to be so mad when he gets taller than her.  I was telling Katie that when he is the same height or taller than her that people are going to think that they are twins since they look so much alike.  She said that she was going to tell people that he is her boyfriend.  CREEPY!
Even though Garret is almost as tall as Katie, look how much higher shoulders are.  Garret must have a really long neck.

Raking Leaves

Garret had to play in the leaves when we were raking today.

Playing Dress Up at Grammy and Pompa's

We had Sunday dinner at Grammy and Pompa's house and the kids got into Grammy's dress up box.
