Student of the Month

Katie was the student of the month for respect for the month of September. 

 

Katie's Homecoming Date

Shane Skidmore asked Katie to homecoming.  Shannan was trying to convince Eli to ask Katie and he said he didn't want to go to the dance.  Shane quickly said "I'll ask her".  Shane is 2 years younger than Katie and turns 16 three days before the dance.  Shannan texted me and asked if I thought Katie would want to go with Shane and if she would need to pay her to babysit.  Katie said that she would love to go so Shane asked her to go to the dance with him.  

 

Texas Roadhouse

Kathleen, Katie, and Grammy went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner tonight.  Kathleen has been up in Spokane doing her 1st month of MTC at Grammy and Pompa's house.

Katie doesn't have a 4th period so she has 100 minutes free in the middle of the day with lunch and 4th period combined.  She came to lunch with Shauna and I today at Choo Choo Tortas.  What a spoiled girl.  On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, she and I meet at Kirt's office on her break and lift weights.

Kirt Using a Blanket

Kirt was sitting on the couch the other day under a blanket and Katie, Garret and I all separately commented that we had never seen Kirt use a blanket before.  So I decided that I needed to document it. So here it is, Kirt using a blanket. 

 

Katie's Official Basketball Visit to Lewis Clark State College

Katie was contacted by the girls basketball coach at LCSC and asked to come down for an official visit.  LSCS is in Lewiston, Idaho.  We went down on a Sunday evening.  We checked into our hotel and then went to campus to meet with the coaches.  The head coach is Brian Orr and the assistant coach is Caelyn Orlandi.  Coach Orr asked Katie a ton of questions about herself and talked about the program and his coaching philosophy.   Then Kirt, Katie, Coach Orr and I went to dinner with one of the players named Rachel Schroeder.  She answered a lot of questions that we had.  The next morning, Katie got to practice with the team.  She played really well.  After the practice, we went back to the hotel so she could shower.  Then we went back to the school and took a tour of the campus, met with the nursing advisor and had a tour of the nursing facilites.  We had lunch with the assistant coach, Caelyn, and another one of the players, Heidi Sellmann.  After lunch, we went back to Coach Orr's office and he made Katie an offer to come and play basketball at LCSC.  The offer was for tuition and room. He gave Katie 2 weeks to decide.  It was a great visit and fun to be wooed.  It's going to be a tough decision.

Touring the nursing school

After the visit, Kirt had an interview so Katie and I found a trail by the river and went for a walk while we waited for him.  There were these weird weight machines every 100 feet along the trail that Katie and I had fun trying out and laughing. 

Ultimately Katie decided to not accept the offer.  It was a really hard decision, but she felt it was the best decision for her.  It was still fun to be whooed doing an official visit.

Katie has been faithfully going to Kirt's gym to practice basketball.  She always brings this guy out so that she can practice shooting over him. 

 

Titus Studor

Katie and I minister to Ksyenya Studor.  She was expecting her 2nd baby and asked if she went into labor in the middle of the night if she could call us to watch her 2 year old Titus.  She called at 5:30am this morning and said she was in labor.  I had to work today at 7 so sweet Katie got up and went over to play with Titus.  Kysenya did awesome and had her baby at 7:10 not even 2 hours later.  

Katie taught Titus a new move.
