Serpentarium, Frog, and Butterfly Museum

We got to go to a fun museum. We saw lots of snakes. Costa Rica has tons of them. My kids held them, I did not of course. There were lots of frogs and lizards, and turtles too. The butterflies were awesome. The one pictured is so cool because it has made itself to look like a owl and a snake (look closely) which are the predators to rodents, who are the butterflies predators. We also saw lots of creepy crawlers like tarantulas, scorpions, and cockroaches.

La Fortuna Waterfall

We hiked to La Fortuna waterfall. It was beautiful. Ingrid and I swam behind the waterfall for the photo.

Tabacon Hot Springs

We went to the Tabacon Hot Springs. The hot springs are from the Arenal Volcano. The grounds there are amazing. The kids loved it because as most of you know they love sitting in the hot tub.

Si Como No

We went the the hotel Si Como No that we stayed at last time we were in Costa Rica in 2005. It's one of the things that the kids remember from last time. They loved the slide. We had lunch at the restaurant hotel and then enjoyed the afternoon in the pool.

Iguanas

No Costa Rica experience would be complete without multiple iguana sightings. We have at least 3 that live on the roof of our house. Tanner fed one of them a banana. Garret thought that it was so cool. We also have a frog who swims laps nightly in our pool.

1st time in pool

Kirt made the kids get their picture taken before they got in the pool the 1st time. They were not happy about it.

Costa Rica house

Here is the house that we are staying in. It is a really nice but simple Costa Rican style house. It has a kitchen with a bar, living room, and half bath on the main floor, then upstairs it has 2 bedrooms and a bath. Katie and Tanner sleep on the twin beds in the 2nd room and Garret sleeps in a portacrib that we put in the bathroom at night so he doesn't wake the kids up or vice versa. It has wonderful covered porches both up and down. We eat out on the bottom one. That is were I am sitting in the picture that I am waving in. And of course it has a pool. The kids have already been in it like 6 times and we've only been here 2 days. You'd think that they had never been swimming before. The top picture is the house from the back. We can sit on the back porch and watch the kids swim too. There is also a picture of the houses from the side and the lower house that our friends the Frey's are staying in. Kirt did an awesome job finding this house.
