Cuba Day 8

Today we went  on a train ride to an old sugar mill. We made a stop at this building that we could climb and see a view of the country side.

Cuba Day 7

We went to the beach in Trinidad today.

Kirt and Tanner went on a snorkeling trip

Funny story-went Kirt and Tanner got back from snorkeling, we were really hungry.  Katie and I had seen some people on the beach selling these pizzas that were folded over.  I was in the water, but Katie was on the beach and she hollered out "folded pizzas" at Kirt.  He had no idea what she was talking about. But she quickly explained that she wanted some of the pizzas that were folded over.

On our way back to our hotel from the beach, our car broke down.  Another car stopped to pick us up, but it was too small for all 5 of us so Tanner got in a 3rd car.  I was so stressed out because Latin's are terrible with directions.  Kirt had told the cab driver where our hotel was, but there was no telling if he understood.  He didn't, and he just dropped Tanner off in some random spot in the middle of Cuba.  Luckily it wasn't too far from our hotel and Tanner is super easy to spot in a crowd.
We wandered around the town for the late afternoon and then went out for dinner.

You are what you eat. (Katie was eating lobster.)
We apparently didn't do a very good job with the sunscreen.

Cuba Day 6

Today we drove to Trinidad.  It was a 6 hour drive so we were in the car most of the day. Kirt loved all the billboards that we saw along the way.

 Our lunch
We stopped and looked at this swimming hole along the drive.
And just across from the swimming hole was the beautiful blue ocean.
It was weird to see cars and horse drawn buggies driving down the road right next to each other.

After we got to Trinidad, we had to find a place that we could watch the Gonzaga game at. Gonzaga came so close to winning, but didn't quite pull it off.  The internet connection in the lobby stopped working at some point during the game so we went into the bar and watched the end of the game in Spanish.  There were some American college girls watching it too.  They didn't really care who won, but they sure got a kick out of Garret and how into the game he was.
