Poor Michelle is back in the hospital. She had her 1st massive abdominal surgery on June 27th (the day Tanner left for his mission). She had a huge cyst on her ovary. They found that it was cancerous so she had her uterus and ovaries removed. Then she had a hard time finding a Dr. that knew how to treat her. She finally found Dr. Holbrook. He told her that she should do this HIPEC surgery where they open her back up and look at all the organs in her abdomen and take off anything that looks suspicious at all. Then they run a high temperature liquid chemo through her abdominal cavity for 90 minutes to hopefully kill any cancer that is left. She had this surgery done on September 17th. Right before she went to surgery, she also got a bowel obstruction. It turned out that she had some adhesions on her bowel that they were able to remove which alleviated the obstruction. They looked at everything and found very little signs of cancer and did the HIPEC. She was recovering nicely and looking forward to her family trip to Hawaii the day after Thanksgiving, when she got another bowel obstruction. They had to go in and cut her open for the 3rd time in 4 months on November 5th. She bowel had gotten wrapped around her ostomy. Luckily it hadn't died and they just unwound it and didn't have to resect it. But she was still in the hospital for a week and in tons of pain. She is such a fighter and so positive. She is definitely a survivor. I took Ike down to the hospital to see her and he brought Bunker Bear with him. (Bunker Bear is from teacher Barbara and the kids get to take him home and write down what they did with him.)
