Kirt and I went to Hawaii today. We got up at 2:30am to catch our 5am flight. Poor Garret didn't get to come with us because he had school, tennis practice, and Mr. U practice AND he had to get up super early to take us to the airport. Our original flight to Seattle got cancelled, but we were able to get a later one. We thought we would miss our connection in Seattle, but we were able to barely make it. (Heather and Jevonn Wiberg and they daughter Madison and her two boys were also on our flights to Hawaii. Small world. ) Our luggage did not make it, so we had to go back to the airport later that night to pick it up. We got to our hotel and checked in. My parents and Crystal and Eric came to Hawaii today too. They were going to come in January but cancelled their trip because Michelle was so ill. I went for a walk with my mom and Crystal and Eric and we walked down to Waikiki beach. Then we all went to dinner at a food court by our hotel. Emilie met us for dinner.
Our rental car. We were supposed to get a mini-van but we got upgraded to this Ford Expedition
It's kind of too bad that we got upgraded because this big car did not fit very well in the parking garage at our hotel. Kirt accidentally scrapped the side of our car when he was getting it out of the parking garage. Apparently big cars can only park on the 2nd floor, but they failed to mention that to us. And there was no one manning the parking station when we parked. It is still really tight parking it on the 2nd floor.
Our hotel room. Tanner got us a deal at the Waikiki Malia hotel because one of the big donors for the basketball program, Mike Kawazoe, owns the hotel. We were on the 18th floor.
The view from our hotel room. We could see the ocean!
The pool lounge area at our hotel.
