Tanner went to Portland on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. They were supposed to play 3 games in Portland over Thanksgiving weekend against Seattle U, Portland, and St Martins. They did Covid testing before they left on Tuesday and everyone was negative. When they got to Portland Tuesday night, they made them get tested again. One of the tests came back positive. They were using the antigen test, which is notorious for having false negatives. They did another one right away and it was negative. It didn't matter, the rules of the tournament said that if anyone was positive, that the whole team couldn't play. They sent a PCR test, which is the more accurate test, hoping that if it came back negative they could convince them to let them stay, but no. They got up Wednesday morning and got back on the bus and drove home. They rented a car and one of the coaches drove the player who was "positive" home. The whole team had to quarantine while they waited for the results of the PCR test to come back which was very slow because of Thanksgiving. They sent another PCR test on right when they got back to Moscow. Both PCR tests came back negative. But not until the team had quarantined Thursday (which was Thanksgiving), Friday and most of Saturday. They were finally able to practice late Saturday afternoon after being alone all Thanksgiving weekend. Like I said, stupid covid. Nothing about it is logical at all.
