Saturday we got and just our family drove to the Priesthood Restoration site in what used to be Harmony Pennsylvania. The area doesn’t really have a name anymore because it isn’t a city. At the site there is a visitors center. We watched a neat video from the perspective of Oliver about the time of the Priesthood Restoration. We also saw the woods where Joseph and Oliver received the Aaronic Priesthood. Also there is a replica the homes of Lucy’s parents, the Hale family, and Joseph and Emma’s first house. We also went down to the Susquehanna River where Joseph and Oliver baptized each other. It was beautiful and we could really feel the spirit.
Then we drove to the Peter Whitmer Farm. It is about 25 miles from Palmyra. We met Grammy and Pompa and Jessy and her family there. There is another visitors center there. We watched another video about the things that took place with they were staying at the Whitmer Farm. Most of the translation of the Book of Mormon happened while they were staying there. Also the 3 and 8 witnesses of the Book of Mormon took place there too. There is a replica of the Peter Whitmer house.
Then we all drove to Palmyra. We went to the Grandin Printing Press where the Book of Mormon was printed. It was really cool. We saw how they printed the Book of Mormon. It was quite a task. Then we went to the Hill Cumorah and went to the visitors center there. They have a Christus statue there like the one at the Salt Lake temple visitors center. They also had a video of the First Vision. Then we went out and waited for the Hill Cumorah pageant to start. We had dinner at the vendors that are there selling food. It poured rain for about 10 minutes. Luckily we were under these big tents eating dinner and didn’t get wet. Afterwards we went and all the actors and actresses are walking around through the crowd and you can take pictures with them. I found Laman’s wife and took a picture with her. In case you didn’t remember I was Laman’s wife when we were in it 25 years ago. We watched the pageant. It was very special. They acted out the scenes in the Book of Mormon. Then we crashed in hotel in Palmyra.
