Today was an incredibly LONG day. We woke up at 4:30am to leave for the airport at 5 to fly to Boquete. We got to the airport, returned our rental car (we rented a car for Sunday to go and meet all of Katie's mission friends). We checked in and then went to security. When we got to our gate, it was a glassed off room that was about 100 feet long and 20 feet wide. It did not connect to the rest of the airport. There were no bathrooms, food or water. We got on the plane and it was supposed to leave at 7:45am. About 8, they told us the flight was canceled and told us to get off the plane. That was all they said. Luckily Kirt can speak Spanish and talked to someone and they said it was canceled, that they were going to try and fly again around 8:50, They said there was so much rain in Boquete that the runway was flooded and the plane couldn't land there. Around 9am, we got an email that said the flight was delayed until 11:45am so we decided to go out of security and get some food, water, and a bathroom. They told us to be back around 10:45am. We went and got breakfast and then went back through security at 10:45am. Around 11:45am, we got another email telling us that our flight was delayed until 1:45pm. We decided to stay in the gate. At 12:15pm, they called our flight to board, even though they had said it wasn't going to leave until 1:45pm. We got on the plane and sat until 2pm. It finally pulled away from the gate but circled for a half hour. It took off and we got to Boquete around 3pm. We got our luggage and our rental car. We quickly drove to a hot springs and got to enjoy them for about an hour before it got dark. We drove the rest of the way to Boquete and got dinner and then went to our hotel, the Boquete Garden Inn.
Waiting for our flight in our glassed off area with no bathrooms, food or water. Our plane was only about 6 1/2 hours late leaving.
When we got off the plane in Boquete, we got off on the runway and they gave us umbrellas to walk the 20 feet from the plane to the airport.
The Caldera hot springs. There were 3 rugged hot spring pools
Eating dinner in Boquete at Big Daddys.
