Today we had an adventure in Panama City. We went and rode bikes on the Causeway, explored the old city, and went to the Panama Canal. We went to dinner with Katie's Mission Leaders, Elder and Sister Forsberg.
Biking on the Causeway
Panamerican Bridge that connects eastern and western Panama. The Panama Canal is just on the other side of it.
The Causeway is just a long peninsula out into the Pacific Ocean that has cute shops and a bike path on it.
We found a PANAMA sign. Have to get our pictures taken with it!
Cool views of the city from the Causeway
Then we went into the old part of the city. It looks a lot like colonial Spain. Lots of pretty old buildings and churches. We explored several churches and had lunch at the Nacional.
Really cool display of different scenes from the life of Christ
Mary and Joseph looking for an Inn
The angels telling the shepards about the birth of Jesus
Birth of Christ
These apostles used to be on the outside of the church. They fell off during and earthquake. One of them was destroyed so there are only 11 now.
Yummy lunch!
Simon Bolivar statue
We climbed to the top of one of the churches and had a great view of the city.
Then we went to the Panama Canal. It's really cool to watch a boat go through the locks.
We watched a 3D Imax movie about the making of the Panama Canal narrated by Morgan Freeman. It is truly an amazing thing that they built.
Katie's friend Fatima from the last ward that she served in came with us to the Panama Canal.
Garret showing off his muscles in the elevator at the Airbnb.
At the pool at our Airbnb. Katie showing off her cool mission tan lines.
Dinner with Katie's mission leaders and their son Conner.
The mission board
They lived in the penthouse on the 40th floor of this building.
