Africa Day 4

We drove to the Cradle of Mankind in South Africa today.  It is an area where African’s believe that the first man was from.  They believe that the oldest fossils known were discovered in caves around this area.  We first went to the Maropeng Museum where we explored the story of humankind.  They had a fossil of Mrs. Ples, the oldest known skull ever discovered, and the fossils of Little Foot, the oldest complete skeleton.  It was a really fun interactive museum.  Then we went to the Sterkfontein Caves.  We saw the spot where Little Foot was discovered.  The caves were about 180 feet deep at the deepest spot.  On the way home we drove to the Johannesburg Temple.  It was very difficult to get inside because it was behind gates.  We finally found someone who knew how to get inside and he helped us.  We met the Brother Eppel who is the temple president.  He served another mission with Brother and Sister Green.  We walked around the beautiful grounds.
