Island Park Day 3

Today we went to Yellowstone.  We went in the west entrance.

First we went to Biscuit Basin.  There were some beautiful hot springs and some really smelly ones.

Ike, Scarlett, and I all wore our family reunion shirts so we had to get a picture together.

At the end of the boardwalk at Biscuit Basin, there was a trial that lead to Mystic Falls.  It was about a mile there and a mile back. The falls was so pretty.

Then we went to Old Faithful.  We got there right after it erupted so we sat and relaxed and ate the lunches that we packed.  It finally erupted and we were glad that we waited because it was so high!

We saw lots of buffalo as we were driving.

Kirt and Michelle took the kids fishing.  Ike told Kirt that he was a pro at it because he did it all the time.

Island Park Day 2

The boys worked again this morning.  Katie, Garret, and I found a trail to hike on.  In the afternoon we floated down the Henry Fork.  It was a slow float, but somehow Jon, Michelle, Sadie, Scarlett and the 2 dogs managed to flip their canoe over.  No one was very pleased that they flipped.  We saved most of the stuff and Michelle's phone still works after getting dunked.  I found Mac's shirt on the bottom of the river a way down.  We also kept finding fruit leathers floating down the river.  Garret would pluck them out of the water and eat them.  We found a rope swing that Garret and Mac both tried.  We also all got out and swam for a while.  The water was very cold.

After the canoe flipped, Scarlett wanted to go with Kirt.  Garret and I traded, and I rode in a kayak for a while.

In the evening, we played a 2+ hour game of Phase 10.  We kept saying we were going to quit, but we had come that far and we had to keep playing til someone won.  Jon was the grand winner, but not before we all got very tired and silly.

Island Park Day 1

Michelle's dad has a cabin in Island Park that he let us use this week.  It was a rustic cabin located on the Henry Fork River.  It was so beautiful there.  We drove down Sunday after church.  Monday morning we relaxed while the men worked.  Katie, Garret, and I went for a hike along the river.  Then in the afternoon with went to Mesa Falls.  There were 2 falls there and upper and a lower.  The upper was pretty close to the rode, just down some stairs.  The lower was about a mile hike away.

There were these huge pelicans in the river

On the way back, Kirt was egging Ike on saying that he was going to beat Ike back.  So Ike started running so he could beat Kirt back.  Ike won and Kirt took the champions picture.
