Henoch-Schonlein Purpura

Katie got this really random illness called Henoch-Schonlein purpura. (It's named after the two German men who discovered it.) It causes inflammation in the blood vessels in the skin, bowel and kidneys. This in inturn causes a rash, stomach pain, constipation, and swelling. In most of the cases the rash is first and then the others symptoms. But in Katie's case, she had the bowel problems first. She had the worst stomach pains and got really constipated. It all started the Monday which was Memorial Day. By Saturday, she had still not gone to the bathroom and was in so much pain. We went to the Pediatric ER and they gave her an enema and cleaned her out. We thought we were done, but the next Tuesday she broke out with this horrible rash. I was thinking that we would have to take another trip to the ER, but my friend's husband who is a Dr. took pity on us and looked at her and diagnosed her with the HSP. So for the entire month of June, she had an ugly rash, stomach pains and very swollen legs and ankles and was so whiny. It was a very long month to say the least. Katie has a very low pain tolerance and is not a good patient. We (I say we, because it was very hard on the rest of us to put up with her) survived and she is doing well now.

The only thing that made her feel better was to take a bath or shower. She was taking 5 or 6 a day. She even fell asleep one night in the tub (don't be alarmed I was right there watching her).

Bowl and Pitcher

This it a cool state park in Spokane called the Bowl and Pitcher. There is a rock formation there that supposedly looks like a Bowl and Pitcher. I think it's stretching, but it is still very beautiful. We went here one Sunday after Stake Conference and walked around, threw rocks in the water, and Katie and Tanner climbed a bunch of big rocks.

Memorial Day Trip to Utah

We decided last minute to go to Utah to see Kirt's family over Memorial Day. His mom and dad were there plus 6 of his 8 siblings plus it was the Christensen family reunion (Kirt's dad's parents and all their kids, grandkids and greatgrandkids). It was a really fast trip. We left Thursday at 5pm and were home Sunday at 8pm. I think we were in the car more than we were not. It was good to see grandma and grandpa and the rest of the family.

The yellow house in the back ground is Kirt's grandma and grandpa Christensen's house.
This is Kirt's Grandpa Christensen's grave. The kids really got into learning about their ancestors on this trip.

Kirt's great grandpa Carl C. Christensen's grave (or maybe great, great?)

Garret's 3rd Birthday

He blew the candles out all by himself. The cars only lasted on the cake for about 1 minute. He saw them and wanted to play with them and I thought "why not, it's his birthday" so I took them off after I got a picture of course.
I bet you are thinking, "don't quit your day job". I am quite the cake decorator aren't I.
Garret got a tool box, some Cars cars and a new helmet.

Windermere Marathon

I ran my 2nd half marathon yesterday. It was on the Centennial Trail. It started in the Valley at Mirabeau Park and ended downtown in Riverfront Park. I don't have my official finish time but it was about 2 hrs and 12 minutes. My first race my time was 2:25:55 so I am improving. That's about 1 minute off my mile time. I ran with my friends Abby and Shannan. It wasn't too bad until the last mile. It seemed that it was a last 3 miles itself. But it's done and I ran the whole thing. Yeah for me. My friend's husband was running so she was nice enough to take pictures of us.
We did it!!!
About 10 feet to the finish line.
20 feet to go.
About mile 5.

We went crazy and decided to buy a new boat. It is a 2005 Moomba Mobius. It only has 30 hours on it though.

Mother Daughter Relief Society Night

We had a fun mother/daughter RS night last month. We had dinner, made bracelets, painted nails, made hair flowers and got our picture taken. Katie was in heaven.
