Tanner and Emilie Go to Hawaii

Tanner and Emilie got to go to Kauai after Tanner graduated.  Our friend Joel Peterson let them stay in his Air Bnb for free.  They had an awesome time exploring the island.

Garret's 15th Birthday

Garret will be the first to tell you that his birthday was lame.  Welcome to growing up.  Birthday's become less and less magical the older that you get.  He only got clothes and things that he needed.  And he picked out all of his own clothes.  His bike had gotten stolen a few days ago and his bike lock ruined, so he got a new bike lock to use.  Luckily his sister has a bike just like his that she doesn't really use, so he still has a bike to use.  He got new tennis balls and a hair brush (he keeps stealing mine). He does get to start drivers ed tomorrow and get his drivers permit.  He is super excited about that.  We went to dinner at Red Robin.  At least that was yummy.

Garret is driving now! Watch out!

Garret's Freshman Tennis Season

Garret had a really fun tennis season.  He has never played tennis much, except with his family, but he decided to give it a try.  He started out pretty much on the bottom of the ladder and slowly worked his way up to playing number 3 singles on varsity.  He started the season out playing number 2 doubles on varsity with Ben Urizka. Then about half way through the season he got moved up to playing singles.

Matches with Ben at #2 doubles
Jamboree against Ridgeline-Win
LC-Loss
Cheney-Win
NC-Win
CV-Win

Matches at #3 singles
Tri-City Tournament-4 Wins, he was in the championship match, but it got rained out and they didn't play the match.  He was super bummed.  He was the only one of his teammates that had advanced that far in the brackets.

Mead-Loss
Mt Spokane-Win
Ridgeline-Win
Ferris-Loss

Then at the end of the season, one of the #1 doubles players got hurt and the coach, Bryan Osborn, asked Garret if he would play doubles with Saxton Schultz. Bryan thought this would give Garret and Saxton the best chance to advance in the district tournament.  They played really well together and had a lot of fun.  They were the only boys to advance past the 1st day in the district tournament.

District tournament with Saxton (games were played at U-high except the last day was at Ridgeline)
Chenney-Win, it was a 3 hour long match.  They were the only ones left playing at the end of the day.  The lights even had to come on at the end of the match.
Mt Spokane-Win

They ended up being seeded #4 and advanced to regionals

Regional tournament with Saxton (games were played at Hart Field, LC's tennis courts)

They unfortunately did not advance to state, but they played really well and improved a TON.  Garret was so much better at the end of the season than he was at the beginning.  It was so fun to watch him grow and improve.
