BVI Sailing Trip Day 1 & 2

We went on a grand adventure.  We went sailing in the British Virgin Islands for a week with our friends Mark and Tori Orndorff and Don and Liz Thornton.  Kirt and Mark took sailing lessons last October in the Puget Sound and then they were our sail boat captains.  We left on Tuesday night at 7pm from Spokane on a stinking night flight.  Thankfully, Kirt got us first class tickets with some certificates he had, so at least we were able to sleep a little.  We flew from Spokane, to Salt Lake, then to Atlanta.  We had a 4 hour layover in Atlanta, so Kirt found that there were little rooms you could rent in the airport by the hour, so we rented one and were able to sleep for about 3 hours.  Then we flew to St. Thomas.  We stayed on St Thomas Wednesday and Thursday and then Friday we took a ferry over to Tortola, the largest BVI, where we picked up our boat.

The obligatory at the airport before we leave picture.  Garret dropped us off at the airport.  He was sad that he didn't get to go, but he wasn't too sad that he got to be home all alone without anyone to boss him around.  He stayed at Grammy and Pompa's house on the weekends and went every night for dinner (Someone actually fed him! He was very excited about that because I don't make dinner very often.)  But during the week, he just stayed at home by himself.  He was very responsible and got up to seminary every morning, to school and to basketball practice.  He even did a load of laundry all by himself.

Walking in the Salt Lake Airport.  The new terminal is so big.  We clocked it and it is 3/4 of a mile from one side to the other.

Kirt in the Delta Sky Club

Our AirBNB in St Thomas.  It was a little quirky.  The bathroom also had the kitchen sink (the only sink) and had pots and pans hanging in it.

The bed was comfy though and the room had a fan and A/C!

The shower was on the back porch and in the open air.

The porch had an amazing view of Magen's Bay.

We went out to dinner on Wednesday night with the Orndorff's (they flew down with us).  And then we were all so tired that we went and crashed early that night because we hadn't gotten a ton of sleep on our night flight the night before,
