Nicaragua and Costa Rica Trip Day 8

Today we went from Granada Nicaragua to Liberia Costa Rica.  We got a shuttle in Granada that drove us to the border.  They won't let anyone take rental cars across the border.  Everyone we talked to told us that it took 5 hours to drive from Granada to the border.  Luckily it only took 1 hour and 45 minutes.  I don't know how everyone got it so wrong, but I'm glad it did.  When we got to the border, we had to go through the exit papers on the Nicaragua side.  Then we had to walk across the border and through a no man's zone that was about 1/4 of a mile dragging our suitcases all the way.  Then we went through immigration in Costa Rica.  Thankfully this too was quick.  Right after we went through immigration, a huge bus load of people came.  There was only 1 person at the immigration desk.  I'm sure those people were in line forever.  We had to wait for about an hour and a half for the shuttle from our rental company to come and pick us up and take us to Liberia, but other than that, it was very smooth.  One of our shuttle drivers said that sometimes it takes the truck drivers 3-4 days to get across the border.  Such efficiency.

Garret was thin enough to slide through the bars.  He thought he was so cool.
 Walking across the border.
We made it to Costa Rica!
