4th of July

Ryan and his family came into town the week of the 4th of July.  We got to hang out with them on Tuesday the 2nd.  Ryan, Brandon, Cody, Garret and I (Angela and Kathleen were visiting the University of Idaho) went and saw the Spiderman Far From Home movie and then they came to dinner at our house.  The kids were all playing Minecraft together in this picture.
Kirt and Garret went out to the lake on Wednesday night the 3rd.  I had to work that night.  On the morning of the 4th they got up and did a bike ride.
On this bike ride, Garret was standing waiting for Kirt to catch up.  Garret went to lean on a tree and it was farther away than he expected.  So he started falling down and the log he was standing on gave way.  He fell down, his bike fell on top of him and then the log fell on top of his bike. Kirt saw it happen and he thought for sure that Garret was going to be super hurt.  Luckily he was just fine.  Kirt is pointing down where Garret fell.
Jon and I came out to the lake on the 4th about noon and so did Cam and his family.  We finished the deck and the kids swam in the lake.  I tried to teach Maddie and Ollie how to play Uno.
After Cam left, Jon, Garret, and I went on a 4 wheeler ride. Such a beautiful lake!
After dinner, Jon went home and Kirt, Garret and I went to the firework show in Spirit Lake.  It was 9 minutes long and it was perfect.  We were all grateful it was short because we were so tired.

On Friday the 5th, we went and met Ryan and his family at the Hiawatha trail.  We had lots of fun after a rough start.  Cody's bike stopped working in the middle of tunnel.  Ryan was able to fix it enough to get through the tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel, a trail worker helped us fix it more, but we waited for about a half hour.  After that it was smooth sailing on the gentle downward slope about 13 miles.  We had to wait for about 20 minutes at the bottom to catch the shuttle back up, and then we rode back through the tunnel to the top.  It was lots of fun!
There is a 1.6 mile long tunnel that you go through on the trail.  It is pitch black.  It was also very wet and very muddy.
We were all covered in mud after going through the tunnel.

After riding the trail, everyone came back to the lake and we went tubing and swung on the rope swing.

Saturday morning I went for a walk while Kirt fixed the swim platform on the boat.  Then Garret and I went for a paddle board and kayak ride.  Our friends the Wiberg's (Jevonn, Heather, Bailey, Jessica and Jessica's friend Stephanie) came out and hung out with us at the lake.  We taught Jevonn how to wake surf and then Kirt, Garret and I all wake surfed.

We took Heather and Jevonn to Messy's Burgers in Spirit Lake for dinner.
